Cloth.
735pp: a superb new edition of Ulysses with illustrations by Italian contemporary artist Mimmo Paladino based on etching with gold leaf. The letterpress of Joyce's text is a facsimile reprinting (with broken type corrected) of the 8th printing by Shakespeare & Co, the first corrected resetting of the type and the first attempt at a definitive text [... the definitive definitive comes later]: the result is a more readable text than the 8th printing itself. The 18 illustrations were first published in an edition of 18 copies in 1994 [after the 18 hours over which Joyce's account takes place], and appear here in the first 'trade' edition. Bound in light blue cloth with a gold leave and etching portrait of Joyce on the front board; in a darker blue slipcase. In near mint condition. Near Mint.
In Slipcase.
