109pp + two collections of prospectuses: An illustrated history of the prospectus from their inception in 1610 to the late 19th c,, with facsimile reproductions of 24 prospectuses (most, from the Bodlien Library): As many facsimiles as possible are presented in the text of Feather's book but 14 are present in a small folio as supplements to the book. The book is bound in quarter black morocco with tips over a decorated paper modeled on an 18th c German paper. Published in a LIMITED EDITIOIN OF 325 NUMBERED COPIES but the present copy is one of the 26 lettered copies reserved to the author, publisher and associates. Accompanying this issue are a collection of 20th c fine press prospectuses (both English and American): 36 in number [the number seems to differ among copies]. In the present collection are announcements of forthcoming works by the Bird & Bull itself; the Officine Bodoni's Aesop Fables of 1973; the Pennyroyal Alice and Looking Glass; the Grabhorn Tempest of 1951 and Midsummer Night's Dream of 1955; the Stampereia del Santuccio edition of Samson (1972), the Allen Press Stendhal of 1954; a Golden Cockerel prospectus of 1931; Arion Press Shaped Poetry; and others. The extra prospectuses are housed in a separate cloth-covered drop lid box box; and the whole is contained in a large cloth-covered clamshell with a leather label. A superb collection in superb condition. Very fine. In solander box.
